MONDIALISTE | TOP CLASS SON OF GALILEO

Mondialiste, a top class son of Galileo, has been retired from racing. Trained initially in France by Freddy Head for his breeders the Wertheimer brothers, Mondialiste was a model of consistency and was Group 1 placed in the Prix Jean Prat to Havana Gold.

He was purchased by Geoff Turnbull as a 4 year old and resumed his career under the care of David O’Meara. Over the course of the next two years, he proved himself to be a bona fide Group 1 horse. He earned a Timeform rating of 123 with wins in the Woodbine Mile (Gr.1) over 8 furlongs and the 10 furlong Arlington Million (Gr.1).  Arguably his best performance came in the Breeders’ Cup Mile when he ran second to the mighty Tepin despite, as Timeform described it, “finishing strongly with too much to do, having to check/switch over 1f out”. During his career Mondialiste defeated 16 Gr.1 winners, including the Breeders’ Cup winning World Approval.

Mondialiste boasts one of the great pedigrees of modern times. His dam Occupandiste was a Champion racemare and a multiple stakes producer descended from the blue hen mare Fall Aspen. Most interestingly, his sister Impressionnante is the dam of the Prix du Jockey Club winner Intello.

His first crop of two year olds have made a promising start on the racecourse. He has already had three, two year old winners and has had plenty of placed horses too. He is certainly building excitement.
